Oak Ridge cleanup gets stimulus jump start (Chattanooga Times Free Press)

Oak Ridge officials say they expect 1,500 jobs will be created by a $755 million stimulus award to accelerate the clean-up of Manhattan Project-era buildings in the East Tennessee town once known as the atomic city.

Congressman Davis briefed at ORNL, Y-12

(Atomic City Underground) Following his early a.m. presentation Friday at the East Tennessee Economic Council, Congressman Lincoln Davis got a tour of ORNL and Y-12 and got plenty of attention at each of the Oak Ridge sites…Congressman Davis spent time touring the Spallation Neutron Source, where (ORNL Director) Thom Mason discussed DOE’s plans to construct a second Target Building, lab spokesman Billy Stair said. One aspect of the project will be a large number of construction jobs in Davis’ district….3/30
